This tournament being held in the main auditorium of Gjøvik cinema, same building of Thon Hotel conjuction with The Norwegian Chess Festival runs from 29th December to the 7th January 2009. The event is to celebrating and a memorable of the 100th anniversary of the Gjøvik Chess Club. The participart for The Aker Chess challenge is Magnus Carlsen , Hikaru Nakamura, Peter Svidler and Kjetil Lie.
The event will be running with a double-round robin tournament, followed by a bronze final and a final.If the score tie, it will be suddent death in blitz game.
Time controls are 25 minutes per game, with 5 seconds increment per move.
