Bruneian Player will play at Mount Everest.

Report from chessbase, 8 bruneian chess player will climb and play chess at the world most highest mountain, Everest (5360 metres). They are from BCF ( Brunei Chess federation ) and this project is a part of a charity project to help poor families in Brunie and raise funds for those in need and improve their lives. This project is a His Majesty’s Government’s commitment to improving the welfare and quality of citizens under the national strategic plan Vision 2035. This project expedition on April 23,and expected 16 days of climbing before they reach South Base Camp of Everest.This team member already 1 year trained with each members funding their training and the upcoming expedition themselves.

Syarat-syarat penyertaan:

Terbuka kepada semua lapisan masyarakat tidak kira umur.
Terbuka kepada peserta sama ada mahasiswa/i UM atau mahasiswa/i bukan UM, bukan pelajar universiti i.e. pelajar sekolah menengah, pelajar sekolah rendah, guru-guru, ahli keluarga, etc.
Pertandingan ini diadakan secara berkumpulan, iaitu empat (4) orang setiap kumpulan tanpa pemain simpanan.
Bagi kumpulan Universiti atau Kolej, semua peserta haruslah terdiri daripada pelajar shaja. Staf atau pensyarah tidak dibenarkan.
50 kumpulan yang awal mendaftar akan berpeluang bertanding. (First come, first serve basis)
Bayaran penyertaan RM 90 bagi setiap kumpulan. (cara pembayaran akan diberitahu kelak)
Borang penyertaan akan diedarkan kepada sesiapa yang berminat melalui emel dengan cara file attachment.
Tarikh tutup penyertaan ialah pada 21 Februari 2010.

Pada 23/01/2010 bertempat di Radix FC , Bandar Laguna Merbok, Sungai Petani telah diadakan mesyuarat untuk jawatan kuasa PERCAK ( Persatuan Catur Kedah) 2010/2011. Perkara-perkara yang dibincangkan:

1- Melantik Ahli Jawatankuasa Percak 2010/2011:

Selain dari perkara-perkara diatas turut dibincangkan mengenai keahlian Percak. Keahlian Percak di buka kepada semua peminat-peminat catur dengan mendaftar kepada Percak, yuran yang di kenakan sebanyak RM30.00 . Keistimewaan menjadi ahli ialah, diskaun apabila menyertai mana-mana pertandingan yang di anjurkan oleh PERCAK. Ahli-ahli berkemungkinan menyertai rombongan Percak ke pertandingan-pertandingan luar dari Kedah ( cth: Penang, KL, Selangor , Bangkok dll)
Perkara-perkara lain yang dibincangkan ialah mengenai catur dalam MSSM ( Kemungkinan besar dapat dimasukkan kembali dalam kalendar MSSM sekiranya mempunyai dana yang cukup).
Tuan Presiden juga turut memberitahu mengenai pertandingan-pertandingan National Rated perlu kelulusan dari MCF terlebih dahulu ( pemohonan sebulan awal dari tarikh kejohanan) dan tuan presiden sendiri ditugaskan oleh MCF untuk menguruskan aktiviti catur di wilayah utara ( Perlis, Kedah, P.Pinang dan Perak). I just received an email from FIRC of UTP .. they will organize UTP Open Chess Competition..Below are some of the email content:

It is with great pleasure to inform you that Friends of Information Resource Centre (FIRC), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) will organize an event called UTP Open Chess Competition under IRC Carnival 2010. Therefore, we would be very honored if you could participate in the program and help to make this program more successful.
The objective of this event is to discover young talents among students around Malaysia that can play chess well with a critical mind, to enhance the relationship between private and none private universities in Malaysia, to produce students that is not only excellent in academic but also with a healthy mind that is able to think critically and also to expose the students with Malaysia chess players and the benefits they can gain by playing chess.
From the knowledge and experiences shared through this event, students and also participants can improve themselves towards being a better generation with a critical mind for the future.


The details of this event are as follows:
Date : 21st February 2010 (Sunday)
Time : 8.00 a.m. to 5.45 p.m.
Location : Chancellor Hall, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS


For your information, we have targeted total number of 300 participants for the event which consists of universities students, staff and lecturers from other universities and also members from chess clubs around Malaysia.
Therefore, we would be grateful if students of staff from other universities would come and be part of us by becoming the participants for this competition. Not only students are invited but also any staff that is interested in joining this competition. You can read the details of the competition at attachment 1.0.
We are looking forward for your positive feedback and we are pleased to provide more information if it is necessary to give you a clear picture about the event. A proposal is attached together with the email. Your utmost cooperation and participation will make this event to be remembered.

Keputusan Pertandingan Catur Hari Keputeraan DYMM Sultan Kedah

17 Januari 2010 telah berlangsung pertandingan catur sempena hari keputeraan DYMM Sultan Kedah bertempat di D'Vista Hotel, Sungai Petani anjuran Jaffolea Chess Club. Pertandingan ini mendapat sambutan yang mengalakkan dari para peserta. Peserta-peserta terdiri dari pemain-pemain tempatan , Pulau Pinang, Selangor, Terengganu dan lain-lain...Selain itu turut diadakan juga AGM untuk Persatuan Catur Kedah (PERCAK) untuk memilih pemimpin-pemimpin baru untuk menjalankan aktiviti PERCAK pada tahun 2010( Akan diumumkan dalam masa terdekat muka-muka pimpinan baru ini). PERCAK merupakan persatuan catur negeri Kedah yang diiktiraf mengantikan persatuan catur negeri yang telah lama terkubur.
