Hikaru Nakamura wins FiNet Open at Mainz
(result from chesstigers )
The 7. FiNet Open ended with a triumph by Hikaru Nakamura. The American, who had qualified through the ICC Qualifyer, dominated the field right from the start. However, with two rounds to go, when he already looked to be a certain winner, he stumbled against Arkadi Naiditsch, lost, and allowed the German to catch up with him. When Nakamura did not achieve more than a draw in the last round everybody believed the German would win the tournament ?after all he was a whole queen up. But in desperate time trouble Naiditsch ran into a mate in three moves. Apart from Nakamura Sergei Movsesian and Alexander Motylev also scored 9 points, though were worse on tie-break points.
